Local Area Info: New Bloomfield, Missouri

A town of 'Bloomfield', with a 'Round Prairie Post Office', within the historic (and since altered) boundaries of Round Prairie Township, was originally surveyed in 1836. In 1841, the post office was moved about 1/2 mile southward, clearly into Cedar Township, and was renamed 'New Bloomfield' . (Note that Guthrie Township did not exist until sometime around 1890, per historical maps.) Details of the boundary changes are given in the article on Round Prairie Township.

As of the census of 2010, there were 669 people, 256 households, and 173 families residing in the city. The population density was 437.3 inhabitants per square mile (168.8/km2).
